ROME CINEMA FEST ‘08
The Third edition of Rome Film Festival is underway with a more Italo-centric approach this year, abandoning its previous two editions emphasis on glamour and Hollywood stars. Not that this year is void of amazing talent gracing its enormous red carpet (said to be the world’s largest).
The Festival opened with a Tribute to Al Pacino, who graciously accepted the praise heaped upon him by loving fans. The stage presentation was informative, well produced and congenial.
Monica Bellucci has reached near iconic status here, with her image gracing huge posters at the Casa de Cinema as well as posters around the Festival. FilmVision interviews her on the occassion of her latest Italian film which was the opening film of the Festival.
One of the most accomplished and international of all young actors is Viggo Mortensen, who is featured in Festival films by Ed Harris and honoree David Cronenberg. His “Master Class” was a comprensive look at his work including the diversity of his interests, his background and his language skills. See our Conversation with Viggo Mortensen.
FilmVision interviews the Korean Director of IRI and the Italian Director of THE PAST IS A FOREIGN LAND.
No world class festival is without an occassional “stormy” atmosphere, but the gods have given Rome more than its share. See ROME ROARS
